Change San Andreas Songs

From Chillpoint Wiki

This tutorial will tell you many things, from converting an mp3 to .ogg, cutting it and then using it to replace songs in San Andreas' Radios

Contents

Programs needed

First of all you are going to need 3 programs

  • SPLITTING: same thing as above, but the best one is a freeware program called Audacity
  • EXPORTING/IMPORTING: To export or import the audio files we can use either Alci's SAAT or GFS (GUI For SAAT) unfortunately, Alci's SAAT is being an ass to me so we're gonna use GFS.

The Guide

using the programs above explained, we are now going to convert a song, split it, and then put it in one of the San Andreas Radios

Converting

the 1st step is simple, find the song you want to convert by clicking "Add", as an example we are going to use the song "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit" made by Fedde Le Grand

openye4.jpg

now that the song is selected, simply click "open" the song will be added to the list, head out to the "Encoder" and select "OGG Vorbis DLL Encoder (.ogg)" on the Output Folder, create a folder so you can place you're converted files, the folder will also be used for the exported SA audio.

After you selected the Encoder and Output Folder, simply click on Encode, the .ogg file should be in the output folder

before we go any further, we should be able to hear the .ogg file safely, at first Windows Media Player won't recognize the file, and when opened, it won't do anything, for this we need the OGG Codec

you can download the codec here -> http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/

Extracting

now we can head on into the Exporting of the SA Audio

using GFS, select where your GTA is located, then choose "Extract", followed by the Export folder and then select "STREAMS" this is where the radio streams are located, finally click on the stream you wish to export, below is the table list of the radio stations and it's stream name:

Filename Station
AA Police Radio
ADVERTS Adverts
AMBIENCE Ambience
BEATS Beats
CH Playback FM
CO K-Rose
CR K-DST
CUTSCENE Cutscene Audio
DS Bounce FM
HC SF-UR
MH Radio Los Santos
MR Radio-X
NJ CSR
RE K-Jah
RG Master Sounds
TK WCTR

since I like to keep things in the correct place, "Put Your Hands Up for Detroit" is a Electronic/Dance music, we will select HC which is the SF-UR Radio Station which has the same types of musics, now we simply click "Extract"

extractingtd2.jpg

if the extraction has gone well all the songs will be placed in the Export folder under another folder called streams, UNDER another folder with the name "HC", the SF-UR Folder.

Splitting

now go to the folder where the songs are allocated and make sure you find the files that the songs are "MID", "INTRO" (3 intros, one normal, one version with a DJ, and a second version with the DJ also) and "OUTRO" (same as last one) and remember the music lengths of the INTRO and OUTRO

we are going to use the following tracks:

Track_101 (Mid)

Track_102 (Intro)

Track_103 (Intro DJ #1)

Track_104 (Intro DJ #2) (not always there)

Track_105 (Outro)

Track_106 (Outro DJ #1)

Track_107 (Outro DJ #2) (not always there)

Intro takes 38 seconds

Outro takes 6 seconds

now using Audacity open the music file you just converted, a sort of blue wave will appear, zoom in twice so you can get the music length to look like this:

secondbysecondys2.jpg

this will make sure we can split the song more accurately, since we can count the seconds one by one

click on the box with an "I" on it, this is what its used to select, select accurately the 1st 38 seconds of the song, and simply click "CTRL+X"

pressing those two buttons will cause to do a "cut", now go to file->new and simply press "CTRL+V", this will cause a "paste"

now with the first part of the song, go to File -> Export as Ogg Vorbis and name it "Track_102" (for example)

after the export, close the window and select "no"

for the outro we do exactly the same, only this time, we count the seconds backwards, and simply redo the process explained above

now, we only have the middle of the song, before closing the window (or something) export it as "Track_101" (for example), as this will be the Mid section of the song

we are now left with 3 files:

Track_101 (Mid)

Track_102 (Intro)

Track_105 (Outro)

Copy-Paste the intro and outro once/twice, and rename them as the remaining Intro's and Outro's, leaving you with the 5/7 files, all you have to do now is move the files you made into the SF-UR Folder, it will ask you if you want to overwrite the files, simply click "Yes for All"

Importing

Now for the final steps into having a new song over a boring one

all you have to do is re-open GFS

now that you opened it/already have it open, go into 2 and select "Import" and on 5 click on the correct stream (in this case, HC) and simply click "IMPORT"

if the import has gone well, you will now have a brand new song(s) in SF-UR, so go into the Chillpoint Server / Single Player and simply await the moment the new song is played!
