Archiving Talk Pages

Archiving talk pages is useful to cleaning up a talk page while still retaining a copy of the information that has been already discussed.

Following these steps will help preserve all discussion on the wiki for future reference.

1. When you are on the talk page (Talk:Page name), click edit
2. Select all the text of the talk page (Ctrl+A on most Windows systems), and Cut (Ctrl+X on most Windows systems).
3. On the now empty talk page type [[/Archive #|Archive # of Talk:Pagetitle]] (replacing the # with the archive number and Pagetitle with the title of the page. For a user talk page, use User talk:Username). This creates a link to the new archive page. Now click Save page
4. Once the page is saved, click the new link you've created to be taken to the new archive (it will be called Talk:Pagetitle/Archive # or User talk:Username/Archive #)
5. Paste all of the old talk info onto this new page (Ctrl+P on most Windows systems). Now click Save page

Congratulations, you have now created an archive of a talk page.
