Bringing New Users to the Server (posted by BrainToad)
Hello all
This is just a quick little reminder. Chillpoint in no way discourages you from bringing friends to the server and it's great you can have other people to play with. But the admins would like to remind you that any friend you bring to the server that you inform them of the rules and point them towards the rules on the website and to also create an account on the site. Please do not just give them a password and let them come on. This just leads to problems and them getting banned.

Chillpoint Screenshot Competition (posted by BrainToad)
The movie contest was great fun, but not everyone can make a movie, so the entries were quite limited. But everybody can take a screenshot, so I'm expecting a few more entries.
This will be run like movies thread, everyone will submit their own screenshot by the deadline, and I will pick the best one and it will be featured on the front page in the news section.
I will be judging on the quality of the screenshot, what is going (is it funny, is it showing a cool stunt, is it a weird glitch?), what steps you took to take the screenshot (did you bother turning off the text and kill list, is the subject of the screenshot obscured)

Despite the big news of the .2 beta being released we have some sad, but understandable news here at home. The original Chillpoint Mafia is closing its doors. Rest in peace Mafia! Stay tuned to the Gang forums to see what will happen with the new Mafia gang. Here is a news bulletin from aNdReSk, The (Original) Mafia's leader:

April Fool's!
As some of you may have guessed, the last news post was a April Fool's joke. There is new update nor any new server. It was all a joke in good fun created by the admins to celebrate one of the year's best holidays, April Fool's Day.
Hope you got a few laughs out of this and enjoyed our fake server for the day.
MrColonist: I gotta give a shoutout to drifter, that's my man. He even created a wikipedia page with the new vehicles and when congested told him it was a joke, he didn't believe him. Thumbs up for ya, drifter!

Thanks to racha, in Brazil, we have negotiated a new host.
Some useful information: The accounts are yet to be transfered, since we're converting fully to the server in 2 days, xxx haven't transfered the accounts yet. See this two days as a test-period.
It's been a lot of work but we've made it!! Enjoy the new script and sever!!! Be NICE to our new hosts!!!
The old server will be down in two days and we're looking forward to converting over to the new server & script! Enjoy!

Hey you!
Since I (xxx) have been very busy lately and most people are asking me the same questions now. I am going to clear things up :)
I AM alive and I AM going to update soon :)
I wanted to do a mini update yesterday and the day before but I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the code and there were too many playing on the server. (Update will take a while)
Now I’ve started writing savable ‘permanent’ gangs and server stats. Stats are fun to have but not a must right now. The new gang system on the other hand needs to be completed to allow gang-buying of properties and so on.
I’m playing with the Idea of skipping a mini-update and instead update as soon as these two things are completed. (Before if they take to long to finish).
See you all on the server when i get around to play :) o/

Chillpoint Wiki (posted by congested)
Several weeks ago Hans set up a wiki for Chillpoint. BrainToad and I have begun contributing to it but it will need more work, and requires maintenance. I have added the Wiki links to the site on both the sidebar and top bar and everyone is now welcome to visit the wiki and contribute to it. You can create an account on the wiki and edit pages and add information where it is needed, if you do not create an account your ip will be logged when you make changes to the wiki.
Please try and be as accurate and detailed as possible when writing a page. People with more experience writing in English are encouraged to correct any spelling and grammatical errors they find on the wiki.

If you are interested in submitting a logo for the wiki then visit the logo contest thread in the General section of the forums.

Spamming (posted by congested)
Please do not spam or post comments you think a user doesn't like in there profile. Use common sense when posting both in profiles and the shoutbox since you cannot delete your comments. Some people are making more work for admins by posting spam, negative comments or mean comments.
Once there is an official list of site rules it will be displayed for all to see, until then post wisely.
Failure to comply WILL result in a ban from the site, and most likely the server as well. Thank you.
(This is epecially for the group of people that spammed several profiles on Tues, Mar. 6th.)

Movie Of The Week Contest (posted by congested)
Hello everyone. Starting this week we are going to hold a new contest for Chillpoint movie of the week. This may be the only week we do it, or we may keep doing it... all depends on how it goes. :)
1st Prize: Movie of the week will get added to site news and be shown to all people who come to site. 2nd & 3rd prize: URLs to videos will be on news page too.
RULES:
- It has to be uploaded onto Youtube or Google Video by the deadline.
- Make sure to submit your video in the Chillpoint Movie of the week thread.
- Must be made of game footage recorded on Chillpoint.
- No insulting other players and servers in the videos please. Be respectful.
- No foul language in videos/No lewd content/use common sense.
- You may submit as many videos as you like but if you don't follow rules your submissions will be ignored.
Deadline is Midnight, GMT +1. Friday, February 23rd.
FAQ and submissions located here!
Admins will discuss and judge the videos. The winners will get posted on or around Saturday the 24th. If videos are equally liked then we will have a tie if need be.

Good thing is it seems rock solid...
Bad things are: ... we need to run it a while to make sure ... server has new ip:port 81.236.129.174:47000 ... i'll prolly be configuring it a while longer
anyhow!, you can go play now if you like. i'll do my best to not change ip or cut the line again while i'm at it.

Just wanna let you guys know that the game server might be going down for a short while some time within 12-24 hours.
Planning on installing and testing a new high-end firewall/router. It shouldn't take more than 1 hour tops.
I'll update this post if it's done, i know exact start time, canceled or whatever!
Oh and if nothing major happens we'll be moving the server to it's new host some time the next few days. :)

UPDATE: Update is up and running! Hope you enjoy it! Many thanks to our loved scripter: xxx.
The script unload bug has been solved and so has alot of other things :) I know the update has taken a while longer than expected, for that i'm sorry, but this is only because i don't want a bad/buggy update. It's going along good and i'm happy to show you some of the improvements below, hope you enjoy :)
- IRC <> GAME communication oh yea!
- Could this be house properties? hmm :p
- Did someone say inventory?
- Easy access to cop chopper? (and medic choppers for that matter :P)
- Scuba property? I think so!
- Oh yea u can rent stuff here..
- Or, why not take a diving trip?
- maybe even on foot?
- and so on it goes... :) there's more...

Server: Script is looking good! Time for testing is near! Lots and lots of bugs, including the nastiest one yet (script unload) seem to be fixed!
To not jinx it i will not say when update will happen :p but it shouldn't be long now :p
Site: I will be going thru the server suggestions threads today/tomorrow and removing old, planned, added and dismissed ideas. If you want to save something from there do it now :) If a suggestion you're looking for is missing it doesn't mean it's *gone*, it's prolly just moved to my todo list or trash can :)

Marathon Success! (posted by congested)
The event was organized and hosted by Terry and supported by the Los Santos Saints. It took place on the ring road around Las Venturas. Ghost Sniper outlasted the competition and won the race. AttenD held his own for almost the entire race and proved to be a challenge for Ghost and Digger. Digger placed in 3rd after losing the lead he started with. As of now Terry's plan is to host a marathon every week for 5 weeks. The marathons will take place on Saturdays at 18:00 (6pm) GMT if you are interested.

ye ye server is full... That is a good thing! :) Guess i'm not as excited cause we've had a full 75 player server before. Anyway, it's all good! Server is behaving nicely. Almost no bugs to be reported. Seems the poor little box it's hosted on could handle more players. It wasn't even close to struggling with 32 players so i'll prolly be raising the player count limit.
Side note: I would like to see more people on our IRC server at: irc.chillpoint.nl in channel: #chillpoint We never kind of utilized the server well enough but i think it's time to do so. I'll be adding an irc bot linked to the game server (on spair time) so if nothing else join/idle for that. I'm also interested in lists of commands that people would like to see available. And last but not least 'i hope', i'll be around there more often. msn is a pain in the ***.
