Chillpoint is a San Andreas: Multiplayer server. It runs a gamemode called "Chillpoint Special" coded by xxx and created by Hans. The gamemode is roleplay and job-based, with various classes who have various different jobs.

History
Spring 2006
Conception
SA:MP, the foundation of the Chillpoint Role-Play server, was released in May 2006. According to Hans, the creator of Chillpoint, "Quickly I realized I wanted my own server." Hans downloaded the moneygrub+landgrab script from the SA:MP forums and Chillpoint was created. Within several weeks Hans suddenly had a very popular server, but still was running the same basic script. xxx began playing on the server and eventually he and Hans started talking about scripting on MSN. xxx made it clear that he was a good scripter and agreed to write an original script for Chillpoint. This covered the ground work for what later became a role play server.
Summer 2006
Early Versions of the Script
xxx, by this point an administrator on Chillpoint, wrote a racing script on top of the moneygrub+landgrab script. There was a large focus on racing at Chillpoint, and the large selection of races combined with the friendly nature of the server maintained its popularity. To this day the server has most of its original races, in addition to some new ones. It was at this time that many of the admins, some no longer playing, joined Chillpoint. Slayer_NL, En3mY, rwl, congested, KableKiB, stolp, Sotamuumi and Micra all joined around this time, prior to an RP script with classes. Also around this time more rules were put into place, like no DMing, no gambling, etc. By July 2006 the popularity of the server convinced Hans to create a website for the community to organize itself with.
RP Script With Classes
The next major change to the server also happened in July 2006. RP classes such as military, hired transportation and hitmen were added to the script. Many of the classes were still without commands and each of those classes has now evolved, with even more classes on the current server. There was still a large focus on racing with users like Jeirmeister organizing big, server-wide, racing events. It was also around this time that admins like BrainToad, Jeirmeister (again), SwedishMafia, Kiro, Driver and Dark_Wolf began playing on the server. Popular events included parities at Jizzy's and Bus Trips.
Server gangs became popular as well, especially once there was a solid foundation for the RP script.
Fall 2006
Summer/Fall Transition
With summer ending and fall coming Chillpoint took its share of losses. Because of other obligations some admins and players were forced to leave the server, and SA:MP all together, but with the losses came many gains. People coming into the community in early fall were coming to RP as Chillpoint had by now established itself as an RP server, which brought a new group of players and interests to the server. This led to the creation of gangs like The Mafia (Old School) and The Morrelo Family. SRNX also became very active on the server in the early months of Fall 2006. Admins MrColon and Bubber began playing in the fall.
Private Server
Because of an overwhelming amount of players, a second server was created in October 2006 for regulars of Chillpoint only. Only people considered regulars on the website were allowed to gain access to the private server. The private server was used for events and core-community activity (like making movies), while the regular server became a bit more chaotic as there were times with 70+ players and very few admins. The community, stronger than ever, was about to face a series of bad events that eventually helped shape Chillpoint into what it was in Winter and Spring of 2007.
Winter 2006
Disruption
At the end of 2006 Chillpoint saw some of its darkest times. Admins KableKib, stolp and rwl left the server and Driver, another admin, went a bit crazy which angered many members. Then Hans's hosting fell through and both the new private server and the regular server went down. A new hosting arrangement was put into place, but immediately after many users ended up getting banned for no reason by the new host. Many regulars were also lost during November and December as some got bored with SA:MP and others got themselves banned for either cheats or general ass-holery. This disruption and series of events led to many decisions being made by the Administrators of Chillpoint.
xxx To the Rescue!
Chillpoint's only scripter, xxx, took it upon himself to begin hosting the server. Just after Christmas 2006 xxx updated the script with perhaps the biggest single update to that point. Houses and a permanent housing system was added, airport checkpoints with Shamal flights were added, and the server went password only. RP gang classes and gang war areas were created in Los Santos and San Fierro as well. The public server was no more. This led to a much closer core-community and set the tone of the server for the first half of 2007. On the last day of 2006, after over a month of planning, The Syndicate was created and with it came "The Big Three".
Spring 2007
Spring brought many big events like the Chillpoint Awards and A-A-Angermeet. Bubber and Sotamummi were given admin-ship in 2007 as well.
Summer 2007
Summer came and with it, alot of new players, getting a full server almost all day. The server had big events like The Second Great War and the COC Parade. The COC Parade is thought of as one of the best events the server has ever had.
Fall 2007
Gang Activity
Fall 2007 kicked off with a declaration by The Syndicate of The Third Great War, soon to follow was the merger of Los Ouros and The Syndicate.
Gang Turfs
A huge gang turf update was added to the server, providing a whole new way for gangs to battle on the server.
May 2008
Another dark time for Chillpoint. With the disappearance of the scripter xxx and the plug pulled on the server, the end of Chillpoint was near. However, with taking upon them a load of work, FrankZZ and LordDufito are working hard on creating The New Chillpoint.
