Hello!,
Since the end of the Chillpoint server I had a strong feeling I wanted to create something else, something new. The past few years I had some ideas about an online game. The problem was: My PHP/MySQL skills were not that good. But then I j started programming on trial/error basis... Now I'm ready to show the game to you guys. 
GTRacer is fully text based, and the main goal is whatever you want. Be the fastest Audi driver, own the most beautiful cars with the most meeting prices, buy a car and tune it to be a 10 second car, etc etc.
Today I finished the script so far, that I 'released' it. The database had a reset, so that everyone started at zero again.
Some features:
- Car dealer
- Market place
- Computer races
- User to user races
- Realistic 1/4 mile dragrace times
- Over 300 different cars
- Over 600 differen parts
- All kinds of statistics
- Leveling system
- Paint shop, part shop, junk yard
- Forums

The game itself is in english, but all the users that joined right now are dutch. The main goal is that everyone is typing in english in the game, but I'll soon open up a specific dutch section of the forums.

Thanks for all the fun times, the events, the gang wars, and all the rest. It's been a good three years.
If you hadn't already noticed, the server has been taken down as there was no use keeping up a server with a script in a perpetual state of incomplete.
If you wish to deny Chillpoint truly being dead, then please join us on IRC where together we can cry and create theories as to why xxx has left us.

This idea was brought up early when Chillpoint died, but it was to establish existing places in other games to play, this is a change to that idea.
If Chillpoint were to host servers for other games, meaning the same admins, the same server the SA:MP is on now, would you play on them?
And if so, which games would you like to see hosted as a new form of Chillpoint.
Some current ideas are:
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead
Counter Strike (either 1.6 or Source or both)
Any non-Steam games are welcome of course. Steam games just give us the opportunity to make an announcement of the server outside the forums in the Steam group

You may or may not have noticed that Chillpoint is no longer like it used to be. If you don't know the whole story, let me sum up what happened up until this point.
Our original developer and last server host, xxx, disappeared without explanation one day. Multiple admins tried to get into contact with him, we even enlisted a friend of his to try and contact him via phone or in person, but he was unsuccessful. So we were left with no script and no server.
After waiting awhile for xxx to come back, LordDufito and FrankZZ offered to begin working on a rescript for the server. They found a temporary host and began development. They got quite a few things done and after conducting tests decided to make the incomplete version public to let people have a place to play and also test the server.
After bouncing between server hosts, finally dugi bought a server for our use and that has been hosting us since then. However, as things happen, LordDufito and FrankZZ became busy and are no longer able to script for us.
So what we are left with is a half-complete script on a server. None of the other admins have scripting ability and those that do are just as busy.
The forums are still up because Hans graciously decided to keep paying for them, despite everything else and he should be thanked for that. The IRC channel is still up and is active during most times the server used to be active, though that has been decreasing as of late.
Long story short: Server is running an incomplete script which is going to remain that way for the foreseeable future. The forums should remain up until Hans decides he doesn't want to pay for them. The IRC channel is still up at irc://irc.gtanet.com/chillpoint and will remain so for quite awhile, even after the forums go down, if they do.
Thank you for your time and thank you for enjoying Chillpoint these three years, it's been a great time.

basically I re-wrote most of the code to store stats etc..

Although most of it is not done yet, you can play with your friends!

Dear users of Chillpoint, I am making this announcement because several players think chillpoint will be dead forever,
But this is not the case! We are glad to announce that we are almost done with remaking the server!

The Fall 2008 Chillpoint Classics Video Cup
This is the post that is used to see which videos you can currently vote for, and will update users on the last round that won. To submit a vote send a pm to congested (me) and include the name of the videos you are voting for. Late votes will not count for that round of voting.

With the next set of Round 1 videos we are going to shake things up some. This time we are going to include several competitions into one vote to test speeding things along. Depending on the voter turn out we can keep going this way, or try going back to one vote a day. (or something else?)
One competition is here for each of the five remaining round 1 groups that have had no votes yet. These groups include the Ad Group, Dramatic Group, Event Group A, Event Group B and Random Acts of Gameplay Group B. Confused? Don't be. All you have to do is vote for 5 of the 10 videos below. (You have until Saturday the 27th, 12am GMT, to submit the votes - use the nicknames provided ie "ALPHA, 1, Green, etc. so I know which vid you mean OR use the video name.)
(Note: If under 10 votes are recieved by the deadline voting will continue until enough votes have come in, so send those votes in asap!)

For people who have been following this topic you are probably somewhat aware of what this about, but for other people here's the explanation.
Over the course of the next month or two we are going to have a tournament for the best Chillpoint video (user voted). The way it works is this:
-64 videos are paired off into groups of 8 and will compete (via voting) with the other videos tournament style.
-Voting will take place on the forums and I am going to try and work out a way to prevent voter fraud (possibly by creating a user group and private forum where voting will take place and add users to that group so they can only access the votes from one account).
In addition to the main video contest there is another contest for people following the voting. Bracket predictions! You can predict each round of voting prior to the voting start date (Sunday).
Each correct pick on your prediction bracket will get you a point (once the video you picked is voted for). The person who has the highest scoring bracket will receive a special prize on the forums!
Here is an image of the full bracket (NOTE THIS IS THE ACTUAL BRACKET, WITHOUT PREDICTIONS)
Remember to get your predictions in ASAP. After 9/20/08 you will no longer be able to submit predictions, but you will be able to vote for videos during daily voting.
ALSO: Make sure to use an email for you bracket that you dont mind other people seeing! Create a new email account if you need to as the prediction brackets are going to be a lot of fun.
